Breakfast seems to be the most difficult meal for people to change. It also seems to be the most confusing when it comes to healthy options. I have numerous patients who describe their healthy breakfast to me as yogurt with granola and fruit, or gluten-free cereal with milk.
I used to eat these kind of breakfasts too. And although they are better options than Lucky Charms or Fruit Loops, they are not the best options as they are still very high in sugar.
Smoothies are a great way to transition into a more blood-sugar stabilizing breakfast. They are delicious and you can pack a lot of nutrient dense foods into them 🙂
If you aren’t sure how to make a smoothie, or what to put in it, check out my latest video:
1/2-1 cup of liquid (water, unsweetened coconut or nut milk)
1 scoop PurePaleo Vanilla protein powder
5g (usually 1 scoop) L-Glutamine powder
1 tbsp Hemp Hearts
1 tsp Matcha Green Tea Powder
1 tbsp MCT oil (work up to this amount if you have never consumed MCT oil before)
1 tbsp Coconut oil
ALL THE SPINACH!
Place all ingredients in high power blender in the order listed and blend until smooth.
NOTE: you can make this recipe the night before if you are one of those people who is always in a rush in the morning. The smoothie will be a lot thicker if you do this, so definitely be prepared to eat it with a spoon!
